Go Girl Podcast
This is Go-Girl —a podcast devoted to documenting the adventure era of my life–my go-girl era. At 40 years old, I live happily solo with my siamese cat, Queen Guenevere and together we are setting out to live a semi nomadic life. I spent most of my adulthood trying to be normal, but now I am ready to run and I am not slowing down for folks to catch up–You can tie me up, but not down because life is meant to be a wild and precious adventure, and this girl is finally ready to go.

It took 3 sisters, two weeks, and one wild goose chase, but it happened. I am now the very proud owner of a little 1988 Itchen Ferry–a 25 foot project boat intended to be my home. I know so little about boats, nevertheless, I feel very confident that I can get this up and running into a liveaboard vessel in the matter of 6 weeks.
But what have I bought? In this episode I will tell you everything I know about this little vessel–every scrap of information I have scavenged from online databases, message boards, and niche websites. Today I introduce you to the Analucia.

I have imagined sailing the ocean, I have sung sea shanties in the Costa Rican cloud forest, and I have seen it represented in films and tv shows. But what is it actually like? Up until one year ago, I had never been on a sailing boat. I still get terribly car sick if I am not mindful, and I have honestly been a little afraid of the idea of sailing. My sisters now live across the Atlantic, and up until now I have relied on air travel to be able to see them. The ocean has felt like a massive gulf between me and them. But what if that wasn't the case? What if I could learn to sail it and by doing so always have a way back to them? If that is the case, the ocean is no longer a barrier, but a pathway. It was time to face a fear of mine. Time to close the gap between me and my sisters.
In this Episode of Go Girl I am telling the story of how I came to sailing, my first impressions of it, and how the future is shaping up to live into it.

In this episode I am taking you on a journey into the history of the a small market town on the shoreline of south eastern England. Once a landmass that connected Britain to Europe, over the last few millennia it has been the site of both division and connection as wave after wave of new people and cultures found their way from the Mainland Europe to the place we now called Britain. Traces of this whole story can be found within walking distance of The Analucia–my little project boat moored in Faversham, Kent, and in this episode I invite you along a historical walk with me to get to know this land which has been home to so many people, and soon to be my own little home away from home.

In this episode I am going to naively tell you my simple plan for achieving this semi nomadic dream. Now is the perfect time to tell you because, while I have taken some concrete steps towards this goal, I am still relatively ignorant of just how much work this dream will be, how many tears it will demand from me, and how deeply I will doubt myself along the way.
